sim / practicum
The student's training consists of a theoretical and the application part. The SIM or practical room is responsible for the practical or application of the theory. It is the responsibility of the facilitator to see that all projects, tasks, activities, etc. are done in such away that students are assessed on the practical application and outcome of the activity or task.
The facilitator guidelines will explain the implementation of the practicum or SIM rooms in the college. In your year planner, the weeks are divided into the theoretical lessons that will take place in the students' lecture rooms. The facilitator of the SIM is not responsible for the theoretical part of the course. The facilitators main objective is to see that the students are exposed to the practical or application part of the learning programme.
The facilitator guideline folder illustrates:
• How the SIM or practicum room functions
• Application of the SIM or practicum rooms
• Planning for the SIM or practicum room
• Year planner
• Types and methods of assessment and tools for assessing student performance
• The guidelines are in MSWord (make your personal adjustments) and PDF format (master copy).
